Get clarity with an independent second opinion.
Do you have valid doubts about your company doctor’s advice? On this website, you’ll find all the information about your rights and the procedure for obtaining a second opinion. We offer nationwide coverage, which means you can consult an independent company doctor anywhere in the Netherlands who is not affiliated with your current occupational health and safety service.
A second opinion provides you with a fresh, well-founded perspective on your situation. Based on this independent advice, your own occupational physician will determine whether the original plan needs to be revised. This way, you can be sure you’re taking the right steps toward your recovery.
Please note: company doctor Berkhout will be out-of-office from May 1st through May 29th; as a result, any requests and responses may be delayed.

Pim Berkhout’s career in occupational medicine began in 1991 with the Royal Netherlands Navy. There, as a practicing occupational physician, he was responsible for managing the occupational health and safety service for civilian employees. This occupational health and safety service involved him and his team providing consultation across a broad range of sectors: heavy industry, aviation, shipping, education, chemicals, civil service, and the defense industry. They advised on issues such as physical workload and asbestos, as well as health prevention and complex administrative health policy matters.
In 2002, Berkhout founded De Arbodienst. By 2016, De Arbodienst had become the fifth-largest occupational health and safety service in the Netherlands. After selling De Arbodienst in 2019, Berkhout shifted his focus entirely to resolving complex medical disability cases, often involving strained labor relations.
Thanks to his experience and knowledge, which stem from a broad career as a company physician, UWV insurance physician, forensic expert, and entrepreneur, his investigations are thorough and his independent advice is clear and concise.
Clients and clients receive attention, time, and explanations regarding the complex subject matter of work disability and the objective assessment of work capacity.
