What can you expect as an employee from a second opinion examination?

The second opinion occupational physician:

  • Re-examines the employee.
  • Discusses the findings with the employee.
  • Provides advice to the employee’s first/primary occupational physician in a report. This report is only sent to the first/primary occupational physician with the employee’s consent. (Blocking option)

The second opinion company doctor may not:

  • Be a direct colleague of the first/primary company doctor.
  • Work for the same organisation.
  • Have other relationships with the first/primary company doctor that could be considered compliance issues.
